Humbug on HAL-Television…

Ship TV just showed some “expose” on Uri Gellar… you know, the (not) psychic moron who was thoroughly debunked by James Randi in the 70s… in public… on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson… And in hundreds of lectures and videos since… and whose recent “mentalist” contest reality-show was a huge flop……………. Yes… THAT Uri Gellar, is now in a big ol’ thing on the ship’s TV that is talking about how he has “unfathomable powers”, and “no one has ever been able to explain” what he could do.

HE DOES SPOOOOOOON BENDING!!!

Seriously. He bends. Spoons.

Not only is that completely and utterly explainable, it’s about the most boring trick known to man. This man is the worst sort of fraud that perpetrates what I really consider to be crimes against people who are often grief-stricken and in an emotionally fragile state. In a very real sense, this guy is a sociopath who preys on vulnerable, trusting and unprepared victims, taking their money and giving them nothing but lies and snake-oil. And apparently he has a 7.5 million Euro mansion in England now…

If that wasn’t an intellectual insult enough, it’s nothing in comparison to the daily airing of advertisements about the Acupuncture & spa treatments available on board from the “Greenhouse Spa” – which claim to be able to cure “chronic ailments” by sticking some pins in your back, because it resets your body’s energy flow… “Redirecting it to the injured areas of your body”.
